St. John to Willy T. Day Trip

A private charter is great, but can also be pricey if you are just alone or a couple. So we are running a special: Day trip St. John – Willy T. (Norman Island) which can be shared by couples / singles. The price is 290$ per couple or 150$ (single). These prices are incl. fuel and captain excl. BVI customs fees. The possible dates are Oct 16th and 21st. Our powerboat is a 32FS regulator, with twin Yamaha 250s and cushioned, forward-facing seating. It will provide a very comfortable ride from St. John to Norman Island. NEW DATES!

St. John – Willy T. Itinerary: Oct. 29th or 30th.

We will leave St. John around 9.00 AM from the National Park Dock. We will check into the BVI at the Tortola customs office and then stop for some snorkeling at Caves/Indians/Spyglass wall or lesser known spots which will offer some of the best snorkeling in the BVI.

From there we will head to Norman Island, also named Treasure Island due to it’s pirate history where we will spend the afternoon have food & drinks and hanging out at the beach at infamous Willy T. and Pirates Bight. We will be back on St. John around 4/5pm to check into customs office before it closes.

About Norman Island

Norman Island is five miles south of Tortola and is uninhabited (except for several hundred herds of goats). Some of the best BVI’s snorkeling is just off the coast. Legend plays a large part in the history of Norman Island with tales of pirates and treasure caves, although the role of the island as the model for the epic “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson is perhaps the most famous legend of all.

The crew o the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Guadelupe mutinied in 1750 and buried several chests of silver. Some chests were dug up, but was that really all? Nobody knows and you will feel the pirate spirit all over the island.

Today, aside from the great snorkeling, Norman Island is mostly famous for it’s two bars/restaurants: Pirates Bight right on the beach and Willy T. floating offshore.

Willy T. on Norman Island

Willy T., short for William Thornton is a 100ft shooner, moored in the Blight that is flying the Jolly Roger and has been converted into a restaurant-bar. You can have Jumbo prawns, BBQ Ribs and burgers, but they are really just side dishes for the booze…..

If Willy T. gets a bit too crazy, you can always hang out at

Pirates Bight

It is an open-air Pavillon on the beach and serves vegetable rotis, chicken, conch fritters and some great mahi mahi. You can relax in the beach chairs and hammocks and there is also a raft in the water.
